Remove deleted company files from the No Company Open view and Open Previous Companies view

Legacy KB ID: 4395

Question

I have deleted a number of company files from my Reckon Hosted directory, but these company files are still present in the No Company Open window screen.  How do I delete them from view?

Answer

The files presented in the No Company Open window screen are the same files offered in File > Open Previous Company view.

By default windows will present the last 4 company files opened.  This number can be modified to show up to 20 previously opened company files.

When you delete company files their reference will remain in the list.  If you click on a deleted company file you will get the message:  “The company file you have selected could not be found.”

To remove deleted company files from the list, reduce the display to 1 (so only the currently opened file is displayed) and then reset to the desired number – eg 3.  When files are subsequently opened they will be added to the list.

Detailed Instructions

1.    With a company file opened, click on File > Open Previous Company > set number of previous companies;

2.    In How many companies do you want to list (1 to 20)?, select 1 and click OK;

3.    Close the company file: File > Close Company/Logoff.  You should now see only the previously opened company file on the No Company Open screen window;

4.    File > Open Previous Company > set number of previous companies;

5.    In How many companies do you want to list (1 to 20)?, select the number of previous companies you want to see – eg 3 - and click OK.

6.    Open the other company files.  When the last one is open click on File > Open Previous Companies, and see the list of previously opened company files.
